Terms of Service
Effective: 12 July 2026 · Applies to the Recipy app and this website
1. Provider and scope
Recipy is provided by Tim Schoen, Speckenbarg 11, 22848 Norderstedt, Germany, e-mail: recipy.support@gmail.com (“we”). These terms govern the use of the Recipy app and its server services. By registering you accept them.
2. What Recipy is
Recipy is a digital cookbook with AI assistance: the app turns photos, screenshots, text, voice notes, grocery receipts and web links into structured recipes, manages fridge contents, meal plans and shopping lists, and offers a cook mode with read-aloud steps and timers.
3. Account and eligibility
- An account is required (username + password, or Google sign-in). The username cannot be changed once chosen.
- Recipy is suitable for ages 6 and up. If you are under 16, you may create an account and use the AI features only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian; purchases additionally require the device’s family settings or a parent’s approval.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret. Without a linked e-mail (username-only registration), password recovery is technically impossible.
- You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app settings.
4. Free tier and premium subscription
- Free: a limited number of AI imports (currently 5) and local storage of up to 10 recipes.
- Recipy Pro (subscription): unlimited AI imports and storage plus additional features. Term: 1 month or 1 year; the price is shown in the App Store before purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current term. Purchase, cancellation and any refunds are handled through your App Store account (Apple or Google), where you can manage the subscription at any time.
- “Restore purchases” in the app re-links an existing subscription to your account.
5. AI content — important notes
- Recipes, quantities, cooking times, calorie and nutrition values are generated or estimated by AI and can be incorrect or incomplete.
- Always verify ingredients and preparation yourself — especially regarding allergies, intolerances and food safety (e.g. safe cooking temperatures for meat). Recipy is not nutrition or health advice.
- Nutrition values you optionally sync to Apple Health are estimates.
6. Your content and third-party rights
- Content you import (photos, text, links) remains yours. You grant us only the technical right to process it to create your recipe (including transfer to the AI services named in the Privacy Policy).
- Only import content you are entitled to use. Generated recipes are intended for your personal, private use.
7. Fair use and prohibited conduct
- No abuse of the AI features (e.g. automated bulk requests, circumventing limits or the device identifier). The service enforces technical rate limits.
- No unlawful, offensive or harmful content; no attacks on the service (reverse engineering, scraping, disruption).
- In case of violations we may suspend or delete accounts; for severe violations immediately and without prior notice.
8. Availability and third-party services
The AI features require an internet connection and depend on third-party providers (Google Gemini, Groq, RevenueCat, App Store infrastructure). Waiting times or temporary unavailability can occur (“The recipe AI is at capacity”). There is no claim to uninterrupted availability; recipes you have already saved remain usable offline.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent, gross negligence and harm to life, body or health. For simple negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual duties (cardinal duties), limited to the typically foreseeable damage. Responsibility for verifying AI-generated recipes (section 5) lies with you.
10. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms with effect for the future when features, the legal situation or third-party services change. We will announce material changes in the app. If you do not object within 30 days, the new terms apply; if you object, you may delete your account.
11. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Should individual clauses be invalid, the remainder stays in force.
